IoT is being used by 90% of the firms polled
IoT isn’t going away. IoT adoption levels remain strong, comparable to 2021, with 90 percent of adopters admitting that IoT is crucial to their business. Quality, security, and resource optimization are the main reasons for implementing IoT. In fact, firms that use IoT for cloud security, supply chain management, and sustainability see IoT as even more vital to their overall success.
COVID-19 is Accelerating IoT adoption across Businesses
One of the unforeseen consequences of the global health pandemic is that 44 percent of the organizations polled aim to increase their investment in IoT as a result of COVID-19, up from 31 percent in 2020. The majority of these businesses are already utilizing IoT, and nearly half attribute increased income to the technology.

Technical difficulties can stymie progress, frequently halting initiatives in the proof-of-concept (PoC) stage. A third of deployments are stymied by the need to tackle current difficulties before adding or integrating IoT, while 28 percent are stymied by technological needs. Solving these issues can help firms reap the benefits of IoT sooner and set the path for future growth.
Surprisingly, IoT Security is a Huge Concern
In fact, 91 percent of study respondents were concerned about IoT security. Data privacy ranks first on the list of security concerns, with 46%, followed by network-level security (40%). Other issues to consider include device security endpoints, maintaining and tracking each device, and ensuring software and firmware updates are performed. Surprisingly, corporations are not following a best practice approach to security, with only 43% designing safeguards that assume breaches at every level of their IoT initiatives.
The Vast Majority of IoT Users include New Technology
Most firms are incorporating AI, digital twins, and edge computing into their IoT solutions. According to 81 percent of firms that use edge computing or digital twins as part of IoT, these technologies are either fundamental or secondary components.
